Panaeolus Cyanescens TTBVI (Tamarind Tree British Virgin Islands) Spore Print

5.0

TTBVI (Tamarind Tree British Virgin Islands), is another variety introduced to the community by Gordo. The original mushrooms were accidentally collected by a British Virgin Islands local who goes by the name u/TamarindTreeBVI on Reddit. According to the story, he brought home a bag of manure from a pasture, and the next time he checked on it, several large Panaeolus cyanescens were growing inside. Impressed by their size, he shared the spores with a guy named V.L., who worked the genetics for several years until TTBVI was born.

Ironically, even though the original mushrooms were quite large, TTBVI is the smallest cyanescens strain I have ever seen. Don’t let that fool you though, like Nats, they’re aggressive. They grow fast, produce dense flushes (often in clusters like you see in the pics), and are the most potent P. cyanescens tested to date.

Product Description

Genus: Panaeolus

Species: P. cyanescens isolation (aka Pan cyan, Copelandia, Blue Meanie)

Strain Origin: British Virgin Islands

Climate: Tropical and subtropical

Habitat: Thrives in nutrient-rich soil, commonly found in pastures, grasslands, and areas fertilized by livestock manure.

Temp: 77°–83°F (25–28°C)

Relative Humidity: 86%–92%

Cap: Smaller than average, with rounded caps, that usually start out chestnut brown and fade into a pale cream or grayish color as they mature (hygrophanous).

Stem: Slender, delicate, and typically between 7–12 cm long. Pale cream or white in color, and bruises blue easily when handled.

Gills: Dark, mottled greyish-black, sometimes appearing speckled due to uneven spore distribution. Gills are tightly packed and attached directly to the stem.

Spores: Jet black, smooth, and elliptical in shape. Spores mature quickly, often leaving dense prints. Basidia typically produce four spores each (tetrasporic). Occasionally, natural mutations result in red spores — a trait that, once established, can become stable within a few generations.

Growth Characteristics: Fast growing with delicate, tomentose mycelium that is typically soft white in color and semi-translucent on grains. Colonizes quickly, and usually starts pinning within 3-5 days.

Notes: Exceptionally aggressive and more resistant to contamination than other Panaeolus varieties. Does better with a slightly higher spawn to substrate ratio. Thrives in environments with stable temperatures, balanced humidity, and consistent airflow.

Potency: Psilocybin content typically ranges between 2%–5%

Supposedly one of the most interesting Panaeolus strains for microscopy. Elliptical, smooth, dark black, with germ pore. Excellent sample.
