Lizard King is an interesting cubensis variety. From what I could find, it was first collected in 1999 by Shroomery user “Lizard King” in an equestrian field near Atlanta, Georgia. He notes the wild fruits were discovered in December, just two hours after a two-day rain, in 35–40°F temps, and so dark that he only noticed them after placing his hand on a pile of horse manure.
In cultivation, they show some distinct traits. The fruits tend to be taller and slimmer than your average cubensis, and while flushes are healthy, they aren’t typically as dense as other varieties.
The experience is unique too. Instead of the usual texture shifting or pattern weaving, you get something that feels more like 3D animation of 2D objects: flat forms gain depth, like paper cutouts coming to life.
What’s included: Each order includes 1-3 prints, carefully wrapped in sterilized foil or 2 swabs generously covered in spores. Spores can last several years if stored in a dark, dry, and cool location such as your fridge.

Genus: Psilocybe
Species: P. cubensis (aka Cubes, Magic Mushrooms)
Strain Origin: Near Atlanta, Georgia
Climate: Tropical and subtropical
Habitat: Found in nutrient-rich pastures, grasslands, and manure-fertilized soils, often near livestock.
Temp: 74°–80°F (23–27°C)
Relative Humidity: 85%–95%
Cap: Large and rounded, typically starting out golden to reddish caramel and fading to pale tan or cream as they mature (hygrophanous).
Stem: Taller and narrower than most cubensis varieties, pale cream in color.
Gills: Closely spaced and initially pale, turning dark purplish-brown to nearly black as spores mature. Gills are directly attached to the stem or slightly unattached (adnate to adnexed).
Spores: Dark purplish-brown, smooth, and elliptical in shape. Basidia typically produce four spores each (tetrasporic). Spores mature quickly, leaving dense, distinctive dark prints.
Growth Characteristics: Moderately fast growing, with rhizomorphic mycelium that’s typically dense, bright white, and rope-like in appearance. Fruits can vary in size depending on genetics and environmental conditions but usually produce multiple flushes.
Notes: Grows best in environments with stable warmth, high humidity, and consistent fresh air exchange.
Potency: Psilocybin content typically ranges between 0.75%–1.75%.
