Psilocybe cubensis, commonly referred to as magic mushrooms, is one of the most popular species in the world of mushroom research. Known for its adaptability, unique morphology, and broad genetic diversity, it’s become a favorite for both microscopy and cultivation.

While many species fall under the term magic mushrooms, Psilocybe cubensis remains the most widely studied due to its consistent growth patterns, accessibility, and wide range of traits. Its spores are often used to examine taxonomic differences, observe basidial structures, and better understand the reproductive biology of psilocybin containing fungi.
Affectionately termed the “weed of mushrooms” because of how easy it is to grow, Psilocybe cubensis thrives in warm, humid climates. It’s commonly found in dung rich fields and pastures fertilized by livestock throughout tropical and subtropical regions. In nature, it plays an important role in breaking down organic matter, but in the lab, it’s best known for its dramatic morphological variability between strains, rapid evolution under cultivation, and broad spectrum of potency across individual fruits.
While my passion lies in the classic and landrace varieties such as Elephant Gate and Aztec God, this collection includes genetics from a range of P. cubensis strains including Albinos, Crosses and Isolations. You can use the variety and location filters to narrow your search even more which is great for side by side comparison and origin based research.
Since Psilocybe cubensis spores do not contain psilocybin or psilocin, they are legal to possess in most parts of the world for microscopic research and taxonomy. Laws vary widely from country to country though so it’s important to know and follow the regulations in your area. If you’re ordering from outside the U.S., please check your local laws before placing an order so you’re aware of any fees, taxes or restrictions. Due to state regulations, we do not ship to California, Idaho, or Georgia.
All spore samples are carefully prepared using proper sterile technique and stored in a dark, dry, temperature-regulated environment to preserve viability.
Orders are shipped within 1–2 days, in discreet packaging, and backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re unhappy for any reason, just email support@panaeoluscoop.com and I’ll make it right.
