Psilocybe Cubensis Penis Envy Swab Set

0.0

The story of Penis Envy begins with Terence McKenna in the Amazon rainforest in the early 1970s, where he encountered a uniquely thick, mutant mushroom and sent spore samples back to cultivators in the U.S. One of those cultivators, Steven Pollock, spent years selectively breeding those traits, eventually creating what we know today as Penis Envy.

Its appearance lives up to the name, with dense, stocky stems and caps that remain closed until just before maturity. While it’s often said that this anatomical quirk makes it a bit trickier to grow, I haven’t found that to be the case. Like any other classic cubensis variety, PE is hardy, aggressive, and relatively quick to colonize and fruit. One interesting point worth noting is that even when the caps open, they do not drop spores.

What sets Penis Envy apart is its notably higher potency and intense, heady experience. While other strains tend to offer a more balanced effect and gradual onset, PE goes from 0 to 100 without warning.

Product Description

Genus: Psilocybe

Species: P. cubensis (aka Cubes, Magic Mushrooms)

Strain Origin: Amazon Rainforest

Climate: Tropical and subtropical

Habitat: Found in nutrient-rich pastures, grasslands, and manure-fertilized soils, often near livestock.

Temp: 74°–80°F (23–27°C)

Relative Humidity: 85%–95%

Cap: Caps are large and rounded, typically starting out golden to reddish caramel and fading to pale tan or cream as they mature (hygrophanous).

Stem: Thick, sturdy stems that are white to pale cream in color. Usually has a persistent, membranous veil (annulus) around the upper portion of the stem. Bruises deep blue when handled.

Gills: Closely spaced and initially pale, turning dark purplish-brown to nearly black as spores mature. Gills are directly attached to the stem or slightly unattached (adnate to adnexed).

Spores: Dark purplish-brown, smooth, and elliptical in shape. Basidia typically produce four spores each (tetrasporic). Spores mature quickly, leaving dense, distinctive dark prints.

Growth Characteristics: Moderately fast growing, with rhizomorphic mycelium that’s typically dense, bright white, and rope-like in appearance. Fruits can vary in size depending on genetics and environmental conditions but usually produce multiple flushes.

Notes: Grows best in environments with stable warmth, high humidity, and consistent fresh air exchange.

Potency: Psilocybin content typically ranges between 0.75%–1.75%.
